Maintenance for Healthy Churches

321B Maintenance for Healthy Churches

Without proper maintenance, any machine will not function well.  After a prolonged period, the same machine will not function at all.  The machine ceases to be able to accomplish the purpose for which it was designed.  In the same way, our churches need maintenance or they will not accomplish their designed purpose—disciple-making.  Revelation 2–3 is in many ways a case study of churches that had missed some maintenance appointments.  Church leaders would do well to learn the lessons of these seven churches for the sake of their own ministries.  Emphasis will be given to understanding the historical context with practical application to today’s complex cultural contexts.
