At each of our worship services the talent and devotion of the Calvary Baptist Church Music and Worship Arts Ministry bless all in attendance. Worship at Calvary is more than just music and singing; it is a time of genuine praise toward God and thanksgiving for all He has done. Our Sunday times of worship are designed for you to experience God in a fresh and dynamic way.
Calvary believes that creative arts are gifts from God. We are incredibly blessed to have a dynamic group of musicians and artists serving with an attitude of genuine praise toward God. We do all we can to foster the talents of these individuals and we desire to enable our musicians and artists the opportunity to grow and develop their gifts in the church while building artistic bridges to the mid-Manhattan arts community.
Calvary Choir: The Calvary Choir is comprised of singers who range in talent from active opera singers to individuals who just like to sing. The group leads worship in the 11 a.m. service and presents several concerts each year, including the annual Candlelight Christmas Concert with a full orchestra. In years past have seen the group have the unique opportunity of singing with such artists as Sandi Patty and Keith and Kristin Getty. While providing a great opportunity to serve, it is also a wonderful venue for support and worship. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Hotel Salisbury.
Calvary Worship Team: Our worship teams lead worship each week in all our services. Participation is open to high school age and above. An audition is required.
Gospel Praise Chorale: This ensemble, under the direction of Sharon Shah, celebrates the great heritage of gospel music. No audition is required and the group rehearses at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoons.
Calvary Handbell Choir: The Calvary Handbell Choir is a collegiate and adult handbell choir that performs in worship services and on special occasions. Highlights of the season include participation in the annual Candlelight Christmas Concert. Ability to read music and strong rhythmic skills are required. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Hotel Salisbury.
