402A Local vs. Global Missions
In the church today many believe that missions is important in spreading the Gospel. However, the church seems to be divided on the issue of local missions vs. global missions. Some churches are more interested in local missions rather than global and others do not even consider local missions as a part of missions. In New York City, God has brought multitudes of people from all over the world. According to recent statistics, NYC is home to as many as 800 languages. Acts 2:5–9 presents a picture of the early church’s first missionary outreach at home. According to the passage, Jerusalem was filled with people from all over the world who spoke many different languages. In that sense, today’s NYC is first-century Jerusalem. Whether it is local missions or global missions, the study of missions challenges us to ask how we are investing our lives when we go out from times of worship and edification at church. Is the Great Commission a part of our everyday life-style? In this course, we will study the importance and the significance of both local and global missions.
