Pastor Michael Herbert was born in and spent the first 10 years of his life in England. His life journey has also taken him to Barbados (1969-1981) and East Texas (1986 to 1999), prior to moving to New York City in August 1999.
Personally, Herbert is committed to equipping Christians to live out their faith vibrantly in contemporary contexts. As Interim Dean of the New York School of the Bible, it is his hope to see NYSB become the premier Christian institution in NYC that equips local churches and individual Christians from diverse communities to minister effectively in their contexts. This will be the result of increased visibility, engaging new instruction modules, and effective advertising.
Pastor Mike began serving as an instructor with NYSB in June 2009 while also pastoring Fellowship Bible Church (2008-2017). He served as the New York Center Director for Bethel Seminary of the East from 2007-2010. In March 2018, he became the full-time English pastor at Chinese Evangel Mission Church of Queens and also serves on the trustee board of Flushing Christian School. He holds extensive ministry and marketplace work experience as an assistant pastor, university campus minister, auditor, and director in educational organizations.
Pastor Herbert graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1990 with a BBA in Accounting and Bethel University & Seminary of the East in 2007 with a Master of Divinity. He is pursuing his Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Together with his wife, Mirna Sambula-Herbert, they parent Rebecca Herbert, 25, and Jeremy Herbert, 19. Herbert is an avid cyclist, fitness enthusiast, and reader, and loves to cook new diverse recipes.
