Rev. Michael D. Velardo serves the Calvary family as Director of Education Ministries and Dean of New York School of the Bible.
Originally from Hyannis, Massachusetts, Rev. Velardo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Nyack Missionary College, his Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Denver Seminary, and his Children’s Ministry Certificate from Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Children’s Ministry Institute.
After serving as a senior pastor for three years, Rev. Velardo spent the next 30 years with the Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF) – 20 years in Boston and 10 years in New York City. In May 2007, he joined the CBC staff part-time as Children’s Ministry Director. Upon his retirement from CEF in August 2008, Rev. Velardo began serving as Calvary’s Director of Education Ministries and Dean of New York School of the Bible.
Rev. Velardo’s greatest ministry passion is “Preparing Today’s Child for Tomorrow’s World”, and “Teaching God’s Word to Train God’s People”.
Rev. Velardo is an avid fan of Boston’s Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. He enjoys traveling with his wife and listening to classical music and traditional sacred music.
Rev. Velardo and his wife, Shirley, have been married since 1972 and have two children, Steven and Tanya.
