605 Teaching the First Principles
The overall objective of this course is to gain insight into the nature of the "first principles of Christ" and the utility of a biblical theology approach in establishing believers in the faith, while developing practical skills in leading small groups to think biblically by means of a serious ordered learning process designed for church-based discipleship.
NOTE: This course requires two tests: 1)
Teaching the First Principles and 2)
Becoming a Disciple: First Principles of the Faith. These texts will be available for purchase at the registration table the first night of class; the cost is $7.50 per text. Each learner
must come to the first class with both of these textbooks in hand.

Do you have a personal life development plan? Are you frustrated by the alck of progress you seem to make in your spiritual maturity and in living your faith? This course will introduce you to a practical process of living life to the fullest. You will reflect on the sovereign foundations of your life, your life's purpose, the abilities God has given you, the legacy you want to leave (not simply a financial legacy), a strategy for pursuing your goals, and habits that are necessary to sustain you along life's journey.
Fulfills ministry elective for NYSB certificate.

The overall objective of this course is to determine the fundamental Biblical principles regarding the mission of the Church and its role in missions, and for developing guidelines and strategies for a local church's participation in the Gospel.

The overall objective of this course is to determine the fundamental Biblical principles for growing and strengthening (establishing) a church to maturity and developing a strategy for implementing the Biblical forms and functions of a church necessary for making and keeping it strong.

612 Essentials of Sound Doctrine: Strategies for Establishing Believers in the Faith
The overall objective of this course is to build a contemporary didache--an early church manual used to establish believers in the essentials of the apostles' teaching. This contemporary didache must be founded solidly upon the faith delivered by the apostles, seasoned by the historical effort of the Church, and eminently relevant to our present cultural situations.

623 Leaders and the Early Church: Strategies for Training Local Church Leaders
The overall objective of this course is to bring leadership back to the center of the local church in a way that will empower churches to participate in the expansion of the Gospel with the same vision and effectiveness as the first church at Antioch.

Spring II 2010, Mondays, 6-9 p.m. - TBA650 Biblical Foundations of Leadership
The focus of this course is to establish a Biblical foundation for spiritual leadership. In this course, the student will study how God develops a leader over a lifetime. Instruction will focus on the vital role of character, personal calling, and the key skills of a spiritual leader. This course reminds the emerging leader that Christian leadership is about spiritual leadership, and therefore differs dramatically from secular leadership.

The focus of this course is to reflect on how God has been preparing the emergin leader to accomplish their specific calling to ministry. In this course, the emerging leader will personally examine the main issues used by God in their leadership calling.

Fall II, Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. - Valentin652 Relational Foundations of Leadership
The focus of this course is to give attention to the critical role mentoring relationships plays in the emergence of leaders for the Church. Maintaining mentoring relationships throughout development as a leader has been seen as a vital ingredient necessary in moving a leader toward finishing well. Various types of mentoring relationships and the dynamics of each will be studied. Emerging leaders will also examine how Jesus developed those around Him through a relational style in everyday life.

Spring I, Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. - Valentin653 Functional Foundations of Leadership
The focus of this course is to investigate the core skills a leader needs to be a spiritual leader. In this course, the emerging leader will study the importance of leading from the heart. This course will cover how relationships, spiritual motivation, honest assessment of one's strengths and weaknesses, personality type, spiritual giftedness, temperament, and team dynamics are essential understanding for the emerging leader.
