302 What Should the Church Look Like?
Over the centuries, have the mission and method of the Church gotten out of focus? Saturdays, 9 a.m. - Taylor305 Sharing Your Faith/Using Your Gifts
Have you ever asked the question: Me, an evangelist? When people think of evangelism, they usually think of preaching the Gospel. Then, depending on how they see themselves as public speakers, they rate themselves as good or bad evangelists. But evangelism is more than content; it also involves one's own gift(s) and personal style. This course will help you clarify the message of the Gospel, identify your gift(s) and personal style, and challenge you to become a player in the Kingdom by impacting your world.
Required for Preliminary Certificate.

310B How to Evangelize When Nobody Wants to Listen
How can Christians be the salt of the earth and the light of the world in order to be more effective witnesses and thus make Christ more attractive to our culture? Admittedly, there are many ways and dogmas about how to evangelize. This hands-on course will attempt to survey and critique the various approaches while also looking at our culture, human inclinations and needs, and our own limitations and the necessity for personal growth. 319S Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God In the words of J. I. Packer, whose book we will be using as the basis for our study, this course is "designed to clarify the relationship between three realities: God's sovereignty, man's responsibility, and the Christian's evangelistic duty. The last of these is its proper subject; divine sovereignty and human responsibility are discussed only so far as they bear on evangelism. The aim . . . is to dispel the suspicion that faith in the absolute sovereignty of God hinders a full recognition and acceptance of evangelistic responsibility, and to show that, on the contrary, only this faith can give Christians the strength that they need to fulfill their evangelistic task." (Evangelism & the Sovereignty of God, pp. 7-8).
