Madge has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1986. Prior to joining staff, she was employed for over 31 years with the State of New York at the Public Service Commission, where she personally received the Governor’s Tribute to African American Leaders of Excellent Service, in February 2005, from the Hon. George E. Pataki, Governor of the State of New York.
As an active member of Calvary, Madge had been involved in evangelical outreaches in the late 1980’s and early 90’s in Manhattan with the Calvary team in the Lower East Side, the West Side, and the World Trade Center area. She also was very actively involved with prison ministry with Prison Fellowship, having done Bible studies with women at Rikers Island and Bedford (a NY State facility), and also conducted seminars at various prison facilities throughout New York City and Westchester.
She also was an integral part of missions at Calvary as a member of the Missions Action Group (MAG), which personally interacted with missionaries supported by Calvary and helped bring their ministry and needs before the congregation. MAG worked side by side with the Council of Missions. She is also a recipient of the Stephen Ministries Certificate. Having taught Sunday School to the children of Calvary for many years, currently Madge is a coordinator of the Middlers Sunday School class (grades 3 and 4) and enjoys that ministry.
During her time away from Calvary Baptist Church, Madge enjoys reading her Bible, photography, traveling, computer graphics, including digital illustrations and editing, listening to Christian music, and taking some time to watch the Classics on Turner Classic Movies.
Madge thoroughly enjoys her membership at Calvary Baptist Church, and now her employment. She remembers her mother telling her that Madge’s great-grandmother used to faithfully listen to CBC’s services on the radio every Sunday.
