424 Church Constitution and Bylaws
Besides doctrinal declarations, each church should have clearly stated guidelines for the operation and management of its organization. Bylaws not only outline the daily operation of the church, but also circumscribe the power of individuals to prevent usurpation and financial corruption. Bylaws should always be ascertained in accordance with IRS laws and established church polity. Churches that operate without bylaws or a constitution are subject to abuse that will inevitably result in the demoralization and skepticism of its congregants. This course will examine the Biblical and theological imperatives for bylaws. We will also study a number of church constitutions and bylaws and compare them with our (student) church practices.
