335A The Church Today in Social and Cultural Context
Recent years have brought significant change to society and culture in an age of globalization seemingly at an ever-increasing pace. This course studies the social factors and cultural considerations that influence the life of the church as an institution. Relevant issues including globalization, postmodernism, social differentiation, renewal, and institutionalization will be discussed. Students will become aware of and evaluate factors that shape the social life of the local church. Various strategies for addressing the challenges within our social context and current cultural implications of the church with the Gospel will also be considered.
