198A Historical Setting of the Old Testament
No events in the Old Testament occur in a vacuum or apart from a historical and cultural context. The Old Testament reveals God’s forming and redeeming the Hebrew people, and how He used, among other things, the history, politics, and interaction with Israel’s Gentile neighbors to accomplish His plan. This class will examine the backgrounds of those neighbors as they to the Old Testament to better understand the sovereign will of God, Israel’s obedience and disobedience, and God’s discipline and grace in response.
