138 The Book of Job
The book of Job falls squarely into the genre of Biblical writing known as wisdom literature. Job reveals the failure of naïve assumptions of retributive justice as an adequate explanation of the world. The book of Job tells us the innocent do suffer in the real world. So the book’s ultimate counsel is to maintain a faithful relationship with God and you will find refuge in a world where suffering is unavoidable. In this course, we will carefully look at the book of Job and glean its pearls of wisdom for our present generation.
