"Saturday at the Museum" Enrichment Seminars
NYSB hosts tours to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, to the Cloisters, to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden/Brookly Museum, and to the American Museum of Natural History throughout the academic year. Descriptions of the tours are given below.
Tour Instructor
Dr. Jack Cuozzo will conduct the tours at the American Museum of Natural History. He has done extensive original research in paleoanthropology on Neanderthal fossils in France, Great Britain, Belgium, Israel, Gernany, and the United States and has also conducted original research in Western Europe. He is a retired orthodontist.

Tour Program
The earth has yielded a treasure trove of important fossils. Modern scientists use such remains to infer a naturalistic origin of life. Using a combination of lecture and on-site observation at the American Museum of Natural History, this seminar will help you understand the problems concerning the construction, interpretation, and temporal arrangement of the fossil record and compare it to the Biblical account of life’s origins.
Tour Registration
Cost: $45 (includes any required group admission to the Museum, even for members)
Need a minimum of 10 people for the tour to occur, with a maximum of 15 people.
Tour Instructor
Mr. Gordon Franz will conduct the seminar tours listed below. He has worked on a number of excavations in Israel, including Ketet Hinnon, Tel Lachish, Tel Jezreel, and Hazor. He has also led field trips to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, and Rome.

Tour Program
Have you ever wanted to go back in time to see what life was like in biblical times? Here is your chance! These one-day tours of the Metropolitan Musuem of Art will emphasize the biblical material in that museum. The journey will be divided into two tours to highlight the Old and New Testaments separately.
The Old Testament tour will include the excellent Egyptian gallery and will reveal the world of Joseph and Moses. The tour will also take in the Assyrian, Babylonian, and Persian collections.
The New Testament tour will be spent mostly in the Greek and Roman wing and will include the Temple of Dendar. The world of Jesus and the missionary activities of the early Church will be viewed.

713 Biblical Tour of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Museum

Tour Program
In the morning, we will visit the Garden and enjoy the beautiful trees and plants in full bloom, and discuss specific trees and plants in the Bible that are in the Garden, and how they relate to the agriculture in the land of Israel and weather cycle in the Bible.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Brooklyn Museum and and view the biblically-related objects that are in the Egyptian and Assyrian galleries.

Those attending this tour should meet near the front entrance of the Eastern Parkway Gate of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden b6 9:30 a.m. Take the 2 or 3 subway from Manhattan, get off at the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum station. As you exit the trai, head down the platform in the direction the train is going (if the train has come from Manhattan) and go throught the turnstiles and make a right. Come up to the street level. The Brooklyn Museum will be in front of you. We will meet in the area of the benches.
715 A History of Slavery in New York City: A Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan

Tour Program
New York City had the second highest concentration of slaves in the United States during the 19th century. This walking tour will visit the location of Fort Amsterdam, Fraunces Tavern, the Wall Street Slave Market, the Downing's Oyster House, Trinity Church Wall Street, John Street Methodist Church, St. Peter's Church, and the African Burial Ground. The history of slavery in New York City and the Christian response to it will be highlighted on this tour. Be prepared to walk 4 miles in the course of the day, dress appropriately (hats and umbrellas in case of rain), bring a lunch or we will eat at one of the eateries in Lower Manhattan.

The registration deadline is September 19. Those attending this tour whould meet at Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan by 9:45 a.m. We will not be able to wait for anyone beyond 10 a.m. Take the 4 or 5 subway, get off at the Bowling Green station. We will meet street-level at the south entrance/exit to the subway station.
